The Art of Being

Take time to be in the moment…
I like to take a walk first thing in the morning, it clears my head and allows me time to reflect and be empowered by the nature around me. This past week I found myself somewhat disconnected from my life feeling overwhelmed and even a little powerless. I had said many prayers following up with positive affirmations in an effort to shake myself from this self-imposed fear and frustration.
As I headed down the street this beautiful sunny morning, I made a conscience effort to be in this moment alone and as I breathed in the cool morning air I asked for guidance from my angels and whomever else in the universe was listening to release my fears and that I was open to receive this moment and this day alone.
The most magical occurrence happened moments later, as I turned the corner I noticed a red winged black bird flying rather low over my head and it started to circle around me, I looked up and my first thought was, “Wow, is that bird going to drop a poo on my head?”
I proceeded to take a few more steps and the bird continued to circle me, flying low and around my head numerous times. I stopped, this time my intuition said the bird is telling you “I am listening, I hear your prayers.” I continued to take a few steps and the bird again continued to follow me and now an overwhelming feeling of peace and comfort arose through my body, now I was sure it was a sign that the aloneness I had been feeling and the wondering if my prayers had been heard were validated. I felt tears well up in my eyes as turned and acknowledged the bird who has so persistently followed me. As I silently murmured a thank you for the sign the bird flew off.
As I continued my walk, I was listening to a motivational recording on my Ipod and thought; they must be talking to me! The conversation was so compelling and spoke to a multitude of things that have been on my mind recently. I thought to myself, this morning is just amazing that so many of the answers I was seeking came to me while I was quiet and conscience of this moment.
A short while later, as I approached my driveway, I stood still once more, taking some deep breathes, smelling the newly cut grass, listening to hear the birds singing so beautifully and I was filled with gratitude that I had chosen to spend forty minutes just being in the moment.

Even when we’re not aware of what’s happening around us, our energy field is transmitting and receiving. When we pause and observe consciousness manifests an answer/support. Cool story.

Simon,
thanks for that acknowledgement -
someone said to me well those birds always do that to protect their nests….what I didn’t mention was that there were no trees in the area I was walking…it was a great lesson for me in being in the moment and paying attention.

Awesome and inspiring post. Thank you for sharing this. It”s interesting for me because I often see hawks circling overhead when I’m feeling the need to recharge. I live in the suburbs, not exactly in wilderness area. I always feel a spiritual presence when they are near. Once, a large hawk landed on my deck, turned around and looked at me through the kitchen window. My reaction was the same as yours; I said “Thank you” and remembered to live in the moment. Many blessings to you.

Sharron,
thanks for your comment and sharing your experience, what a gift to have truly felt that moment and what the birds brought to us in messages.
