Be Happy Right Now

Stop waiting for something or someone to change, accept things and people as they are and choose to be happy now (you can be happy within, it doesn’t mean that things will change or get better, but your inner happiness is your choice)

Do something that feels good to you right now (get some fresh air, have a cup of coffee/tea, dance, sing, exercise, hug/kiss someone)

Do something for someone else right now (hug someone, give someone a smile, compliment someone, be kind to someone)

Count your blessings right now (don’t believe the biggest lie preventing happiness, the one that says EVERYTHING is so bad - there is bound to be at least one thing to be grateful for - and probably lots more!)

Stop worrying about the future, whether tomorrow, next week or next year, be present right now (worrying will not change anything and most of what we worry over never happens anyway!)

Practice self love right now (recognize your gifts and talents – it is not possible that there is not at least one thing good about you and most likely there are lots of good things!)

Let go of the negative thoughts and feelings you have been carrying around right now (learn from your mistakes, learn from your pain, forgive yourself and others and let it go!)

Quiet yourself right now (stop thinking and doing for a short time – close your eyes and just breathe)

Remember experiences and people who caused happiness right now (think of happy times and happy feelings about others – you are bound to smile and feel happy just by remembering!)

Look around to find happiness right now (look at the nature around you, watch kids playing, listen to people laughing, watch others being happy together – it will remind you that there is happiness all around us, if we look for it!)

These are wonderful tips Angela. I especially like your point about remembering the people and things that bring us happiness now. As simplistic as it may sound, I also believe it’s important to intentionally define what true happiness means to us because it really is a little different for each person.

Thank you Marquita. I agree, defining what happiness is to each of us individually is important. I have realized that some of the silliest things that make me happy don’t make others feel the same and vice versa.
